Glazing Bars & Accessories for Polycarbonate
A wide range of plastic and metal accessories are held in stock
to enable various roof or glazing designs to be achieved. For use
with multiwall polycarbonate Rockwell primarily offers three types
of glazing bar:
The aluminium capping bar
requires a suitable timber rafter or metal supporting section
underneath. The aluminium capping profile sandwiches sheets down on
to a rafter gasket laid directly on the supporting structure.
The force of the retaining screws and upper gaskets thus ensure a
secure, water tight seal. Any thickness of multiwall sheet as well
as solid polycarbonate, acrylic or glass can be accommodated by
varying the length of securing screws used.
Alternatively the popular snap down rafter
bar, often referred to as a 'standard glazing
bar' uses an aluminium locating base and push fit PVC
top cap. Here the mill finish base is screwed to the
rafter first, then sheets located, before the white or
brown PVC capping profile is pushed in place to accept 10mm,
16mm or 25mm multiwall polycarbonate. Popular for basic timber
supported lean-to structures especially on domestic properties, pub
smoking shelters and simple canopies.
For projects where less supporting structure is required use
is made of two part structural glazing bars which
free span the whole slope, or use purlin supports on longer roofs.
A popular option for use with multiwall polycarbonate between 16mm
- 25mm are Rockwell's snap down structural glazing
bars.
Like the standard glazing bar these have a mill finish base
which is screwed to the upper, lower and intermediate cross
supports. White or brown snap in extruded PVC capping
sections are used to retain the sheets. Matching
wall plates, eaves beams, end caps and bar base
undercloaks are all available to complete the
structure.
In addition more decorative snap down structural glazing bars
which accommodate the 25mm, 35mm and 40mm thick sheets typically
used on modern conservatory roofs can also be supplied in white,
brown and wood grain finishes.
For bespoke or commercial patent glazing applications
Rockwell also supplies two part aluminium structural
glazing bars. The aluminium base, upper capping, end caps
and other aluminium accessories can be supplied in mill
finish, white or brown or be powder coated to and standard RAL or
BS colour. Again by varying the length of the securing screws any
thickness of multiwall or solid polycarbonate and glass can be
accommodated.
Different size and shaped bases are available to fulfil
the different spanning requirements of the two part
aluminium structural glazing bars - please contact Rockwell for
further advice.
In addition to the glazing bars, 'U' shaped aluminium or PVC
sheets end closures, aluminium F-section profiles, fixings, eaves
fillers, sealants and other standard accessories are held.
Also ridge, hip and roof verge accessories are
available.
