Solid Polycarbonate Sheet
Combining strength, impact resistance (over 200 times equivalent
thickness of glass) and very high light transmission (up to 90%),
solid polycarbonate sheet is one of the most versatile glazing
materials available. Solid PC is approximately half the weight of
plate glass and can be supplied pre-cut or fabricated on site
allowing both design flexibility and easier installation.
Solid polycarbonate's uses include walkway covers, entrance
canopies, pyramidal and domed rooflights, barrel vault roofs,
secure curved shelters and security over-glazing as well
as balcony screens, machine guards, safety screens and vehicle
windows.
As well as clear, in some thicknesses opal, bronze, grey
and textured finishes are available. For large glazing
requirements the Colorado colour range and Saphir hard surface
coated sheets can be produced to order. Production of Colorado
polycarbonate sheet is subject to a minimum quantity of 2 tons and
manufacturing lead times of between 3-5 weeks.
Polycarbonate sheets have good fire resistance properties (UK:
Class 1 or Class 0) and are supplied in a UV protected 'long-life'
grade for all exterior applications. For glazing projects sheets
can be edge clamped in suitably rebated frames or installed on
purlins using metal capping profiles or capping glazing bars. Two
part aluminium structural glazing bars are also suitable for use
with solid PC.
Clear PC between 2mm and 10mm thick is stocked in either
3m x 2m or 8'x4' sheets sizes with basic cut-to-size
rectangular panels cut free of charge. Other sizes, shapes and
overlength sheets can also be supplied, subject to
surcharge/minimum quantities and extended lead time.
